In the second game of the early doubleheader @ Warren Woods Tower our Varsity Lady RedHawk's Basketball Team met one of the better teams from the Silver Division of the MAC Conference in a non-league game. The RedHawks jumped out to an early 21-14 lead on the strength of their press and the 5 points from Madison Stencel, 4 points apiece from Katie Malone & Kaitlyn Piggott and 3 each from Erica Obra & Laityn Dennis. The second quarter wasn't as exciting as the 1st, but the RedHawks were able to outscore the home team 9-8 to take a 30-22 lead into halftime. Jaya Jackson with 3 points led the RedHawks in the quarter. The 3rd quarter was the turning point of the game as the Lady RedHawks came out scoring quickly and often and outscored the Titans by the score of 16-9 to take a 46-31 lead heading into the final stanza. Madison Stencel & Laityn Dennis each had 5 points in the quarter and Kata Tasich chipped in with 4 to lead the RedHawks. Each team seamed to trade baskets in the 4th, but it wasn't enough for the home team as the Lady RedHawks came away with a hard fought 56-43 win. The key statistic in the game was the points in the paint, where the RedHawks outscored the Titans 34-16 and were led by Sophomore's Laityn Dennis (9 points & 5 rebounds) & Kaitlyn Piggott (7 points & 5 rebounds). Madi Stencel led the RedHawks with (10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals & 2 assists) in a very nice all-around game. Other key contributors were Katie Malone (6 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals & 6 assists) for an awesome game, Jaya Jackson (5 points), Gabby Bieniek (5 points & 5 boards) and Kata Tasich (4 points, 4 boards & 2 assists). Both Erica Obra and Ashasri Daram (4 assists & 3 steals) each had 3 points apiece. Freshman Hailey Fellin chipped in with 5 boards to help in the win. The victory raises the RedHawks record to 8-2 overall. Great win ladies and keep working hard.
