Varsity Lady RedHawks Pummel Visiting Ferndale Eagles.

Last week our Varsity Ladies Basketball Team welcomed in a young Ferndale squad to Athens Gymnasium for a league game. This game was all about runs for our Lady RedHawks as they started out the game on a 12-0 run in the 1st 4 minutes of the quarter. Both teams traded baskets twice and the RedHawks went on another run of 9-0 to take a commanding 25-4 1st quarter lead. Kata Tasich (7 points), Madison Stencel & Ashasri Daram (4 points) apiece led our ladies. Ferndale opened the scoring in the 2nd quarter with a 3 pointer but wouldn't score again throughout the game. The Lady RedHawks went on a 17-0 run to take an insurmountable 42-7 lead going into the half. Freshman Hailey Fellin (5 points) and Senior Jaya Jackson (4 points) led the ladies in the 2nd quarter. A 16-0 run in the 3rd quarter started the running clock halfway thru the quarter and gave the Lady RedHawks a 58-7 lead heading into the 4th. Again, Hailey Fellin led the scoring in the 3rd quarter with (8 points). Kaitlyn Piggott had (4 points) in the final stanza enroute to another 10-0 run and a 68-7 victory. 13 of 14 players totaled points led by Hailey Fellin (15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals & 2 assists) and Kata Tasich (9 points). Ashasri Daram (6 points & 2 boards), Erica Obra (6 points) and Gabby Bieniek (5 points, 6 boards & 2 steals) also contributed to the win. Madi Stencel (2 steals & 2 assists), Jaya Jackson (4 rebounds), Annalise Lorenz (4 rebounds), Kaitlyn Piggott (4 rebounds & 3 assists) and Annabelle Beaubien (3 rebounds & 2 steals) each had 4 points apiece for our ladies. Katie Malone added (3 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals) also. The win raised the RedHawks overall record to 9-2 and 2-0 in the league. The ladies also play 3 games this week at home on Tuesday @ 7:00, Thursday @ Troy at 7:00 and Friday @ Rochester Adams at 5:30. Great job ladies and keep working hard.
