Last week was archrival week as the Varsity Lady RedHawks welcomed in the Troy Colts. The 1st game between the two teams was a close game with the Lady RedHawks pulling out the win on Troy's home court and all signs pointed to another close game @ Athens. The visitors jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, only to see the Lady RedHawks outscore the Colts 10-3 to take a 10-9 lead after 1-quarter. Kaitlyn Piggott with 4 points and both Gabby Bieniek & Hailey Fellin each added 3 apiece. Again, the visitors jumped out early and were able to sustain a 15-5 run to take a 24-15 lead into halftime. Again, Hailey led the Lady RedHawks with 3 points in the quarter. Both offenses struggled to score in the 3rd, but the RedHawks outscored the Colts 7-3, to cut the lead to 27-22 entering the 4th quarter. Kata Tasich with 3 points in the quarter led the RedHawks. The 4th quarter was a back-and-forth affair with the visitors outscoring the RedHawks 9-7 to pull away for a 36-29 win. Even with the loss, the Lady RedHawks still accomplished one of their team goals by being Co-Champs of the league. Congratulations ladies on a very nice accomplishment! Kata Tasich (10 points, 2 rebounds & 1 assist) led the Lady RedHawks. Other contributors were, Hailey Fellin (6 points, 2 rebounds & 2 steals), Kaitlyn Piggott (4 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks & 1 assist) and Gabby Bieniek (3 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals & 1 assist). Ashasri Daram had (3 rebounds, 3 steals & 1 block) & Laityn Dennis had (5 rebounds & 1 steal). The RedHawks finish the season with a 17-5 overall record and will face Warren Cousino in the Districts @ Warren Mott. Great season ladies and keep working hard.
