Wednesday evening the Lady RedHawks traveled to Warren Mott to open up their district play against the Patriots of Warren Cousino. Our ladies scored immediately off the tip by Kata Tasich on a nifty pass from Katie Malone, only to see the Patriots come down and hit a 3-pointer for a 3-2 lead. That would be the last time that Cousino would lead in the game. The Lady RedHawks would go on a 13-6 run to take a 15-9 lead after 1-quarter. Kaitlyn Piggott with 4 points & Ashasri Daram with 3 led the RedHawks in the quarter. The second quarter found both defenses pick up their intensity, as the RedHawks outscored the Cousino Ladies 7-1 to take a 22-10 lead into the half. Kaitlyn with 3 points in the quarter again led the ladies. The 3rd quarter opened with a Patriot's bucket only to see the Lady RedHawks go on a 12-5 run to take a 34-17 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Kata Tasich picked up her game in the 3rd and led the RedHawks with 6 points in the quarter. The 4th quarter saw Coach Klumpp substitute frequently as every player was able to get into the game as the RedHawks outscored Cousino 10-6 to win the game by the score of 44-23. Kata led the Lady RedHawks with (13 points, 4 rebounds & 2 steals), Kaitlyn Piggott had (7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block & 1 steal) and Gabby Bieniek contributed (6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals & 2 assists) to lead the team. Other key contributors were, Katie Malone with (3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals & 5 assists), Ashasri Daram (5 points) and Annabelle Beaubien (3 rebounds, 1 steal & 1 assist). The win raises the Lady RedHawks overall record to 18-5 and they will face their archrivals, the Troy Colts on Friday @ 7:00 at Warren Mott in the District final.
