In the final game of the year, our Lady RedHawks JV Basketball Team faced off against arch-rival Troy. The RedHawks started out slowly in the 1st quarter as the visitors outscored the home team 12-5 to take an early lead. The second quarter the Lady RedHawks got things moving forward as they outscored the Colts 9-6 to trail at the half 18-14. The 3rd quarter was where the RedHawks picked up their pressure to outscore the visitors 12-7 to take a 26-25 lead heading into the 4th. Lily Greaves with 6 points led the Lady RedHawks in scoring for the quarter. The 4th quarter saw the RedHawks take a 4-point lead late, only to see Troy hit a couple of big shots to take the lead late. With the ball and the clock running down to 15 seconds left, Ella Odgers came up with the biggest shot of her life, connecting for a 3-pointer with 9 seconds left to tie the game and send it into overtime. WOW, what a clutch shot by Ella. The Lady RedHawks called time out and were able to set up a press, where the visiting team could not get off a shot. We were into overtime. In the extra period, the RedHawks were outscored 10-6 and the Colts went home the victors 45-41. Our ladies were led by Lily Greaves with (13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals & 1 assist). Other key contributors were, Madelyn Odgers (7 points, 5 rebounds & 1 block), Faith Cotton (6 points, 3 rebounds & 1 steal), Emery Collesano (4 points & 5 rebounds) and Ella Odgers with (3 points 3 steals, 2 assists & 1 rebound). Other key contributors were, Savannah Byrum with (4 rebounds & 1 assist) and Madhu Battula (1 rebound, 1 steal & 2 assists). The loss ends the Lady RedHawks season at 16-4 on the year. Tough loss ladies, but great season and effort! Be very proud of yourselves!!
