The Red Hawks were unable to gather quite enough steam to regain footing in the game. Athens still showed sparks offensively and leaned heavily on its top playmakers just to stay in the game. Quarterback Andrew Dunlap shouldered the load once again. He tallied 192 yards, throwing for 146 yards and a score and running for 46 yards and another td. In four games this season, Dunlap has already tallied 850 total yards and 10 touchdowns and has become the team's most consistent threat both inside and out of the pocket. Receiver Nathan Piggott continued his solid season as one of Dunlap's top choices. He caught four passes Friday for 88 yards and a score and has a season total of 224 and 3 trips to the endzone. Cainan Hanbury balanced out the offense with 52 yards on just 7 rushing attempts and has a season total of 179 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns. Flexible contributor Grayson Conrad also chipped in and has a season total of 390 all-purpose yards and 3 touchdowns. On defense, Hanbury led the way with seven tackles, including one for loss, while linebacker Thomas Cook added six stops with a tackle for loss of his own. Brain Pierce Jr was active with six tackles, and both Max Hladiy and Enir Fjolla contributed four tackles apiece, each registering a tackle for loss. Ciurla and Conrad also made their presence felt in coverage, breaking up passes to slow down Farmington’s passing attack. Special teams have been a constant. Kicker Noah Boehms has yet to miss an extra point, making both of his Friday attempts and pushing his season conversion rate to 8-for-8. He has also booted a successful 21-yard field goal during the season. and in the return game, Ciurla and Conrad accumulated more than 250 yards and got Athen's key gains in field position. The Red Hawks will transition their focus next to a vital league showdown Friday with North Farmington at 7:00 p.m. With a 1-3 record, Athens needs a bounce back effort to right the ship. With Dunlap leading the offense, Piggott stretching the defense, and Hanbury and Conrad backing them up, the Red Hawks have enough punch to turn it around.
